Water Taxi Service to go to Chaguaramas
The Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development, Dr. Bhoe Tewarie, has announced the extension of the Water Taxi Service to Chaguaramas by July 1st.
Minister Tewarie made the announcement during the sod turning ceremony for the Chaguaramas Boardwalk extension.
“I want to say that in text consultation with my Permanente Secretary just now, we can reasonably say that we will launch the Water Taxi Service from the 1st of July 2013.”
The Minister confirmed the service will run from San Fernando to Chaguaramas and will also include a weekend service.
“What that will mean is that you don’t have to drive a car to come here and you can leave La Brea or San Fernando to come here. We will do the Water Taxi Service in such a way that you have at least one run in the morning and one run in the afternoon on weekdays, and over the weekends we will have two each. That is to say, two in the morning and two in the evening.”
Minister Tewarie called for an improvement in security in the Chaguaramas area, saying this will ensure the numerous attractions coming to area would not be compromised.
Following the sod turning ceremony, the Minister took part in the launch of the Zipline and Canopy Walk at Macueripe.
The zipline will open with an introductory price of $120 for access to the 7 lines around the Macueripe facility.
The Minister of Community Development, Mr. Winston Gypsy Peters, took a trip along the zipline but Minister Tewarie, who was set to join him, declined due to a combination of jitters and the weather.
The Minister said with such attractions set up and the development of the Chaguaramas Golf Course in the planning stage, security in the area needed to surpass possibly that of the rest of the country.
The Minister also called for a reduction in squatting in the Chaguaramas area.
