Vandana Mohit is a dynamic young leader who has served as the Member of Parliament for Chaguanas East since 2020. Her journey in public service began at just 22 years old, when she was elected Councillor for Cunupia in 2013. She went on to serve two consecutive terms in local government before making history in 2019 as the youngest Mayor of Chaguanas at age 28.
An alumna of Saraswati Girls’ Hindu College, where she was valedictorian, Mohit began her tertiary studies at just 16 years old. She holds an Associate Degree in Journalism and Public Relations and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from COSTAATT, followed by a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, which she earned by age 24. Now 33, Mohit is a passionate advocate for youth development, women’s empowerment, and cultural enrichment. As Vice-Chair of the UNC’s National Women’s Arm, she continues to champion gender equity and social advancement. Known for her hands-on leadership and commitment to grassroots engagement, she has led numerous initiatives focused on community upliftment, education, and social services in Chaguanas East.
She now seeks re-election to continue building on this work and to further empower the people of her constituency.
