The results of the December 2nd Local Government Election have shown that the people of Trinidad and Tobago are ready for a return to good governance, and to get the country working again. The UNC is the only party that puts people at the centre of all our policies.
It is important to note the inroads the party has made in the recently concluded poll, including the popular vote with 202,584 votes or 54.38% of the total votes cast. The party increased votes in 119 out of 139 seats (85.6% of seats), and the total UNC vote increase was 21,826 votes or a 12.1% increase.
The UNC gained votes in 13 out of 14 corporations, with the largest increase by percentage was in Diego Martin which increased votes by 62%. In contrast, the PNM lost votes in 109 out of 139 seats (78.4% of seats). The total vote lost by the PNM was 12,729 or a 7.3% vote loss.
After more than 200 billion dollars spent, this Keith Rowley regime has nothing to show. They have presided over massive job losses, an out of control crime problem, and now, have put unnecessary pressure on law abiding citizens with the haste to changeover the $100 note.
This Government has shown nothing but contempt for the people. We maintain our call on the Prime Minister to do the right thing and call the election now, so that the people can elect a leader and team that can get T&T working again.
