UNC PRO: Retired Justice Sebastian Ventour must step down from Commission of Enquiry
The United National Congress is calling on retired Justice Sebastian Ventour to immediately resign from the controversial Commission of Enquiry into the process of land acquisition for the Port Fortin Highway project.
In a statement today, UNC PRO, Senator Anita Haynes reiterated her call for Justice Ventour to make clear his position on emailgate and the news that Keith Rowley fabricated the entire issue in his grab for power in 2015.
At the TTPS press briefing today, it was apparent that the entire emailgate affair was a hoax. The Director of Public Prosecutions has determined there is no evidence to warrant further investigation into the Emailgate sham. This not only exposes Keith Rowley’s nefarious actions to deceive the people of T&T but also calls into serious question the actions of Justice Ventour as well.
It must be remembered that after the Integrity Commission concluded that there was insufficient information to continue an investigation into “emailgate”, Justice Ventour resigned claiming the investigation should not have been closed due to supposed information being held by the police.
We now know that no such evidence existed.
Justice Ventour was one of the chief cheerleaders of this hoax perpetrated on the people of Trinidad and Tobago and today Keith Rowley has appointed him to preside over another political “pappyshow” in the form of a Commission of Enquiry.
Neither Keith Rowley nor his cheerleader Justice Sebastian Ventour has any credibility in the eyes of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Justice Ventour should consider preserving what little dignity he has left, apologise for his part in the emailgate hoax and step down from Keith Rowley’s continued campaign of lies and deception.
