UNC hits the ground running Budget 2019
The United National Congress has embarked on nationwide community budget consultations, in keeping with the Party’s philosophy of listening then leading. The UNC has employed all arms of the Party- the Local Government Arms, the National Executive, and all MPs and Senators, to host and participate in cottage meetings which will facilitate community input into the Opposition’s Budget response.
In addition, the Political Leader and Leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar has also initiated consultations with business groups, NGOs, and religious and faith-based organizations.
In a statement today UNC’s PRO Senator Anita Haynes said, “The UNC has always taken a community approach to governance, we understand that to build a strong, resilient nation, we have to invest in all communities.”
“The consultations are intense discussions where residents can bring their concerns and their ideas and can become part of the Party’s and the nation’s policy making.”
“We are proud of the efforts shown by our representatives and we are enthused by the responses we have gotten thus far. We will continue to roll our community outreach which will include post budget forums.”
Trinidad and Tobago is in need of leadership that understands our people are our greatest asset, and ideas and innovation can be found in every community. We are making our Party open and accessible to all, by the end of this exercise we expect to engage with thousands of citizens.
