UNC completes screening of nominees for the Debe South Bye-Election

On Wednesday 12th January 2022 the United National Congress screened nominees for the upcoming bye-elections in Debe South.

This was conducted by the Screening Committee and was held at the UNC’s headquarters located in San Fernando. This screening process went well into Wednesday night.

The UNC remains committed to providing the burgesses of Debe South with proper representation and will announce the chosen candidate in the coming days.

All nominees who offered themselves expressed their commitment and willingness to work with whoever is chosen as the candidate.

It is also important to note that the district of Debe South has been without an elected councillor for over a year following the death of Mr Purshotam Singh. The party recognizes the contributions of late councillor Singh and will continue the good work started under his tenure.

The PNM Government has only now caved in to demands to call the bye-elections due to the public pressure exerted by the Hon. Political Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar SC, MP.

The UNC stands ready and prepared for this bye-election.
