UNC Calls for the Removal of Senator Lester Henry
The United National Congress is calling for the immediate removal of PNM Senator Lester Henry in the wake of his recent drunk driving charge. Trinidad and Tobago is a nation in crisis and the problem starts with the current PNM leadership.
This is the second set of legal problems that Henry has faced in 2017 and still he remains protected by his PNM cohorts. Power must come with responsibility and as a lawmaker, Henry should at the very least be expected to respect and obey the laws of the land.
In September when Henry lost his defamation case, the Judge had cause to reprimand him for “conduct less than would have been expected from someone of his stature and position.” In addition to being reckless with his words, he also had to be heavily criticized, for failing to disclose the recordings he had in his position.
Henry’s guilty plea on his DUI charge is another display that he has no respect for the position he holds and the citizens of this country. Driving under the influence is not something to be taken lightly; it endangers every single road user. In a country plagued with road fatalities, the Prime Minister should set an example with whom he choses to hold leadership positions.
Lester Henry is another example of poor decision making by Keith Rowley, whose incompetence has brought Trinidad and Tobago to a failing state. Action in this matter should have been swift and decisive and the silence from the PNM rank and file is unacceptable and alarming. The UNC demands immediate action, Henry must go!
