T&TEC Installs Lights for Exchange
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) hosted a ceremony to mark the installation of $785,288.00 in lights at the Exchange Recreation Ground, Couva on Tuesday.
Public Utilities Minister, Nizam Baksh said “The illumination of recreation grounds, parks and public spaces is a priority of my Ministry. Last month we turned on lights at eight grounds bringing the total number of grounds lit by this Government to 137. Right now we have another 28 grounds completed and awaiting commissioning while another 30 grounds are in various stages of completion.”
He said that one of the key outcomes of the illumination projects is “Greater participation in Sport and Recreational Activities towards Healthy Lifestyles”, one of the five priority areas identified for development by the Government.
Member of Parliament for Couva North, Ramona Ramdial thanked Minister Baksh for another project delivered in her constituency. She praised the Old Mac Exchange Sports Club for encouraging youths in the area to be involved in cricket and other positive activities and urged them to utilize the new lights for night cricket competitions.
Ramdial promised to continue to work in the best interests of her constituents and asked all present to become proactive and assist Government in developing its people.
