Trinidad and Tobago favourably highlighted in AmericanWay
The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, yesterday (Tuesday 13th August, 2013) received a first copy of ‘AmercianWay’, American Airlines AAdvantage inflight magazine for July-August 2013, in which Trinidad and Tobago is highlighted as a gateway to the Americas and one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The 12 page supplement was written and produced by a three member team (Caren Stutz, Andrea Mignolo and James Southeran of Invesmedia Group), which visited Trinidad and Tobago and was hosted and guided by the Director of Public Information and Communications, Mr. Dennis Mc Comie, and his staff of the Office of the Prime Minister, over a period of three weeks.
During that period, the team visited numerous sites and events and interviewed several key stakeholders including Mr. Stephen Cadiz, Minister of Tourism, Dr. Lincoln Douglas, Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Mr. Chandresh Sharma, Minister of Transport, and leaders of business, investment, and banking sectors.
The team also paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, who granted approval for the mammoth project to be undertaken. The Prime Minister confirmed to the team that government had embarked on an economic and social transformation process to build a competitive, productive economy with the goal of providing citizens with lasting prosperity and personal and sustainable national development.
In her message, published in the supplement, the Prime Minister stated that “Trinidad and Tobago is open for business” and that “we have the opportunity and ability to build competitiveness in areas we can infuse with our unique talents and creativity to create products and services for the world”. The Prime Minister went on to state that her main objective remains “Prosperity for All”.
The magazine, which features much information on tourism, business, the economy, transportation, aviation, culture and the environment, is already available inflight to travelling customers on 60 of American Airlines’ destinations around the world. Some 60 million people are targeted to read the special supplement, which will be available free to travellers for the next two months.
Trinidad and Tobago is set to receive enormous positive promotion from the publishing of this magazine and should attract more visitors in the coming months.
