Shamfa in charge but can’t deal with Tourism
Dear Editor,
I read in the Local newspaper with great consternation where Ms. Shamfa Cudjoe said she cannot be upstaged in reference to a question posed to her about the dismissal of the Chairman of TDC.
However towards the end of the interview she gave some indication as to why the chairman was fired and it was clear that there were differences between the Minister and Ms. Demming whom she said “was sacked based on facts”.
This is not the first time that this attitude of belligerence has been demonstrated by Ms. Cudjoe who’s only claim to fame is her infamous statement “we are in charge, deal with it”. The cause of tourism has not been advanced in any significant way in nine (9) months since the PNM took over.
A high potential for earning Foreign Exchange is being lost as the Minister spends her $50,000 /month salary in dressing up as a tourist and strutting the streets of Scarborough.
No new innovative Marketing Strategies have been announced. At the local level domestic tourism sites continue to be kept in a deplorable state.
The Minister’s knowledge of the island is limited to Scarborough, Piarco Airport and Port of Spain. We cannot ‘play the fiddle’ and see tourism burn. This Minister lacks the competencies and she is high on the list for the back bench.
