PM discusses wind farm in TT
PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar discussed the possibility of establishing a wind farm in east Trinidad “for generation of up to 100 megawatts of power” and the establishment of a regional renewable energy centre in this country as well.
The Prime Minister raised these issues when she addressed the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting in New York yesterday.
A statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, highlighted the wind farm and the regional renewable energy centre as two initiatives which Persad-Bissessar highlighted when she addressed the CGI. The centre is an initiative arising out of talks which Persad-Bissessar had with US vice-president Joe Biden when he visited TT in May. The centre will be a joint initiative between Government and the US Department of Energy.
Persad-Bissessar addressed the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, participated in a high level event involving the Arms Trade Treaty and co-chaired a meeting of Caricom leaders with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on Wednesday. The Prime Minister is due to return home today.
