Padarath: Rowley should apologize
Princes Town MP Barry Padarath in a press release called on Prime Minister Keith Rowley to apologize to the nation for his recent stance on the utterances of Port of Spain Mayor Raymond Tim Kee, regarding the murder of a Japanese woman.
Padarath stated that Tim Kee’s decision to resign was the right thing to do since Tim Kee insulted the population of Trinidad and Tobago and the women in particular and brought the nation into international disrepute.
The MP said that Rowley once again showed a lack of principled leadership and demonstrated that he subscribed to double standards. Padarath said Rowley’s defense of Tim Kee was hypocritical and that Rowley needed to call a spade a spade. He further indicated that former Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar must be congratulated for firm and decisive leadership and decision making and that Rowley needed to take a page out of the book of Persad Bissessar.
The Princes Town MP declared that Prime Minister Keith Rowley is a defeated man today as the population and the court of public opinion has made a significant victory today.
Padarath in his press release indicated that the population had grown accustomed to a Prime Minister under Persad Bissessar who placed country above politics and that Rowley needed to take heed of this.
He added that Rowley’s failure to hold Ministers and government officials to a higher standard would see a revolt by the people of Trinidad and Tobago. He warned Rowley not to shield members of his government from the public’s expectation of good governance or they would face the political price sooner rather than later.
Padarath further added that Rowley himself has made despicable comments that are distasteful against women and this was an opportunity to redeem himself, which he clearly failed.
