Padarath : Princes Town fully supports Kamla
Princes Town MP Barry Padarath indicated that he has consulted with the executive and membership of the UNC in the Princes Town constituency and that they are unanimously supporting Kamla Persad Bissessar to return as the Party’s Political Leader in the November 26th polls.
Padarath hailed Persad Bissessar’s leadership style, both as Prime Minister and as the Leader of the Opposition. He stated that her commitment to improving the quality of the lives of citizens was evident in the focus that she placed on healthcare, education, infrastructure development and her responsiveness in times of national crisis.
While serving as an opposition MP, Padarath said that Persad Bissessar has focused on strengthening the Party by rebranding, rebuilding and reimaging the UNC. He applauded her for her leadership style of being inclusive and for bringing in more youth into the Party to allow the Party to grow and expand.
The Princes Town MP slammed those who are arguing that the November 26th polls are not constitutional. He indicated that the election had sound legal and constitutional footing and will be carried out in accordance with the provisions set out in the Party’s constitution.
He further added that the detractors are attempting to buy for time in an attempt to undermine the party and her leadership from within with a poor understanding of the legalese they are using to argue their case. He said I recall in 2007 the same colleagues attempted to take over the Party and having failed sat in the UNC and formed another party. We will not fall for that treachery twice; if that is the playbook they intend to follow. Those who wish to challenge I say bring it on and don’t hide behind threats of legal action, put your names on the ballot paper and let the people decide.
