Oropouche West Sport and Cultural Organization hails a People Centric Budget
We the members of the Oropouche West Sports and Cultural Organisation believe that this budget is indeed a people centric one, which puts the needs of the population in the forefront. As members of a group who have worked with within the Oropouche West areas, much of which is rural, we are very happy to see an equity in distribution of resources by Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar and her Government. We believe that this is definitely ‘Prosperity for All’.
We acknowledge the work done over the past four years; work which we have lobbied for over decades such as water projects, road infrastructure, school and community center upgrade, and sporting facilities upgrades; and we hope that this budget will allow that work to continue. It is easy for people to condemn the budget, but for us who have experienced rural neglect first hand under the biased hand of previous regimes, because of our geographic location; we understand and appreciate the need for the services which directly impact the lives of people.
We can say today without a doubt, that our communities are now receiving the attention it so rightfully deserves as every part of Trinidad and Tobago also deserves. We note with great interest that the Government is expanding education at all levels, providing a better level of minimum wage, strengthening communities, and transforming the social and economic environment. We look forward to continue partnering with the Government as we continue to upgrade our communities.
Respectfully,
Sunil Singh
