Oropouche West MP slams Arrogant Health Minister
The Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, Mrs. Vidia Gayadeen- Gopeesingh, has condemned Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh for his brazen arrogance in the midst of allegations of corruption and cronyism.
In a release issued on Thursday the MP stated, “This incompetent Rowley led administration continues to abuse the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. These OJT ministers have attempted to nab the narrative of other international leaders, citing fake news every time their performance is questioned, perhaps this is their new mantra. We see “Terrible Terrence” at it yet again. The worst Minister of Health in our nation’s history has now found himself in hot waters in light of the revelations of corruption by the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissesar”.
Mrs. Gayadeen-Gopeesingh continued, “By his own admission the Minister indicated that there was a conflict of interest. Does the Minister actually think our citizens are gullible to believe his claims of recusal during the process? It is ironic that PNM continues to accuse the former People’s Partnership administration of corruption yet they shamelessly burgle from the taxpayers’ pockets.”
The MP noted the Health Minister’s performance has been substandard as he has presided over the awarding of questionable contracts, the overcrowding of patients in our hospitals, the unavailability of medication to citizens and the refusal to open the Couva Children’s Hospital. Recently it was discovered that blood lines are being used in place of IV lines on patients.
Mrs. Gayadeen -Gopeesingh questioned whether contractual hand-outs to the friends and relatives of government officials take precedence over the provision of efficient, quality health care to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mrs. Gayadeen Gopeesingh criticized the PNM administration for allowing our health sector to dwindle towards such a deplorable state. “It is unjust that the hardworking citizens of this country must deplete their life savings to acquire healthcare from private health care institutions because our state hospitals are barren of space and medicine.”
The MP concluded “This debacle reeks corruption to the highest heavens and the citizens will not accept this.”
