Oropouche West MP: PNM adamant to destroy Trinidad and Tobago’s Future
The Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, Mrs. Vidia Gayadeen- Gopeesingh, has strongly condemned the PNM led government for its wanton disregard for the students of La Romaine High School.
The La Romaine High School has been plagued with a series of unfortunate events, triggered by a small fire in the Integrated Science Lab back in early May 2018. Following the initial disruption, teachers complained about termite infestations and sewer issues. The Ministry of Education assured the staff and students that the requisite work would have been completed during the July/August vacation.
In a release issued on Tuesday, the MP stated, “This government has single handedly crippled every sector in Trinidad and Tobago and now they seem adamant on destroying our future, by refusing to provide an opportunity for the children of La Romaine to learn.
The MP accused the incompetent Rowley led administration of being facetious and insensitive when it comes to expediting outstanding repairs to schools situated in South. “If you want to see the PNM’s priorities just look at the news, we see a Prime Minister dancing and enjoying CPL along with his Ministers whilst children are forced to stay away from school,” citing the Ramai Trace and Reform Hindu Schools as examples of PNM neglect for children of South Trinidad.
The MP concluded, “The children of Trinidad and Tobago have a constitutional right to an education. The PNM has already made tertiary education difficult to attain in light of their dismantling of GATE, we cannot allow them to destroy the primary and secondary school systems now.”
