Opposition Senators Draft Amendments for the SSA Bill

Don't spy on meOn Tuesday May 3, 2016, the Opposition Senators had a great day debating the Strategic Services Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Senate. As you may know, the Government is seeking a method to secretly spy on the people of our country without putting the appropriate checks and balances in place to protect us all. Opposition Senators did a wonderful job at explaining how dangerous the Government’s bill is.

Opposition Senators held a press conference on Wednesday May 4, 2016, in which they provided the media with their proposed amendments to the bill.

Please find attached:

1) A UN Report which speaks to the best international practices used in legislation for intelligence agencies

2) A copy of the amendments proposed by the Opposition

3) An explanatory note explaining the basis of our amendments.

Please take some time to read the documents as these are issues that affect us all.
