Opposition Leader: No Budget for Carnival 2022, a taste of PNM incompetence
The National Carnival Commission received no allocation for funding in the 2022 Budget, so then where is the money coming from?
Where did the NCC Chairman get this figure of $30 Million from? Is it really 30 million or 50? Or some other even larger figure.
T&T has been dealing with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic for the past two years. Yet the PNM sounds like they only started planning for Carnival 2022 in the past two days.
It appears that the public outcry over the $30 Million dollar figure has prompted Randall Mitchell to backtrack and try to spin the issue.
How is this money being spent? Where is the accountability? Is this money as usual going to friends, family and financiers of the PNM?
The paltry production that has been proposed will not benefit those in the carnival sector who have been unemployed over the past two years.
Our artistes, mas designers and producers, event managers, vendors and all the people associated with this industry deserve better, and should not be treated as an afterthought because of this Government’s incompetence and lack of vision.
