Opposition Leader: AG Al Rawi Continues to Blunder, Revoking Wrong Curfew Order
Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi continues to display an exceptionally low level of competency in carrying out his duties. In his latest legal blunder, the Attorney General revoked the wrong legal notice to change the times of the curfew under the State of Emergency.
In changing the curfew time the Attorney General needed to revoke LN 189. However, he revoked LN 178. It should be noted that LN 178 was already revoked.
The Attorney General’s typically poor legal drafting can now lead to confusion and uncertainty. Is the population now legally required to be home by 9 pm or 10 pm?
Despite this serious error being made since last Monday ( 27th September 2021) it has yet to be corrected an entire four days later.
Either Attorney General Al-Rawi does not possess the basic aptitude necessary to conduct the nation’s serious legal duties, or he simply doesn’t care about his responsibilities or both.
Al-Rawi’s farcical blunder is all the more glaring given his disastrous Order to change the selection of the Police Commissioner which has now resulted in the collapse of the entire Police Service Commission, plunging our nation into a constitutional crisis.
Attorney General Al-Rawi‘s continuing litany of legal blunders means the nation can have no confidence in him to function as the legal advisor to the State. He has belittled this once esteemed office and brought it into disrepute.
Al-Rawi must either resign or Prime Minister Keith Rowley must immediately remove him before he does further damage.
