Nothing to Hide
Dear Editor,
There are few people, particularly public officials who could stand the true test of transparency. The “emailgate” allegations of conspiracy and corruption against the Prime Minister, Attorney General, and other Government officials by Leader of the Opposition Dr Keith Rowley could be regarded as one of our nation’s most vicious and malicious acts of misbehaviour in public office if proven true. While the Government officials have always maintained their innocence having questioned the authenticity of the emails, it is only recently when Google Inc. released a certified affidavit invalidating the entire emailgate scandal that the veracity of the emails became invalidated.
It is now laudable that the Attorney General has advised his lawyers that he will act in a manner contrary to their advice and that they must inform Google that they are to release everything requested by the Integrity Commission. According to AG Ramlogan, “Give them everything they want,” “I have done so because it is not my intention or desire to frustrate or block the application by the Integrity Commission even if it violates the privacy and disclosures laws in the State of California”.
Such a position would not be taken by someone who is doubtful of their innocence. In my opinion, this is a clear sign of someone who has “nothing to hide”.
