No response from Minister Edmund Dillon
It is with great regret I report that up to present time the Minister of National Security, Edmund Dillon has failed to respond to my letter (see attachment ) which asks on behalf of the Central MPs and other stakeholders for an urgent meeting to discuss the escalating crime situation in Central Trinidad.
The Minister should be reminded that as elected Members of Parliament, all MPs have a duty to their constituents to ensure a better standard of living, safety and security. We have witnessed over the weekend a bloodbath in Central resulting in 14 murders in 72 hours.
Therefore, our intention is to work with the Minister of National Security to assist him in addressing the soaring crime rate. The first step toward effecting such is for the Minister and his team to meet with us and discuss the situation.
Clearly, as it is now, the Minister has shown gross disrespect to our request for an urgent meeting. In light of this, it can only be construed that the Minister and his government are not serious about fighting crime.
