MP Lee : Gov’t lost moral authority to lead T&T
Atlantic Train One is another “Petrotrin betrayal” as yet again the Rowley regime has deceived, misled and lied to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The consistent lies and untruths of this Government on Train One clearly indicates that the Rowley regime has lost the moral authority to take our energy sector forward and lacks the integrity to lead our nation.
Just as they told the country that Petrotrin will not be shut down, they told us that negotiations for Atlantic Train one were on-going.
Now both entities which were key to the prosperity of this nation are history thanks to the callous, visionless ineptitude of the PNM.
The revelation on Atlantic Train One’s demise comes as no surprise because it was the Opposition who exposed the blatant lies of this Government last year and highlighted that Train One was dead since 2019.
Atlantic Train One was not a blunder, mistake or bad investment. It was a reckless decision which robbed taxpayers of 240 million dollars.
Today the Prime Minister must tell us who will be held accountable. Will the NGC Board be given indemnity?
Will Mark Loquan be allowed to remain as NGC President after such damning and irresponsible decisions?
Betrayal, destruction and cover up has been their norm for the last six years in the energy sector.
Their record of lies in the energy sector is unparalleled from any Government that has led this nation. From promises of more gas to a gas shortage. From promising the refinery to the OWTU to leaving it to become scrap iron.
The closure of Train One wasn’t due to Covid, it was not destroyed due to market forces nor was it hindered by the upstream companies.
Atlantic train One, after serving this nation faithfully for 20 years became a victim of this Government’s armageddon, catastrophe and decimation of the natural gas sector.
The Government team in Doha are nothing but hypocrites talking about LNG revenue when the fingerprints of this Rowley led administration are on the weapon which took Train one to the grave, reducing further LNG production and revenue for this country.
