MINISTRY OF EDUCATION: MEDIA INVITATION

the-coat-of-arm20th November, 2014. The Ministry of Education wishes to invite you to attend and cover the Mental Mathematics Marathon Awards Function, tomorrow, Thursday 20th November 2014, at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre, Mc Bean, Couva, from 1:00 pm.

Mental Mathematics is a component of the Mathematics Curriculum for Primary Schools. It is part of the overall strategy to improve the levels of numeracy among pupils in the primary school. Although the competition targets the pupils in standard 4, the interest and motivation begins much earlier since mental mathematics is introduced at the infant level.

The competition involves the bringing together of key stakeholders in rewarding excellence in mathematics through proficiency in the use of mental strategies to solve problems.

The Mental Mathematics Marathon culminates in a Prize Giving Function or Award Ceremony where the finalists are rewarded with prizes.
