KAMLA: WE WILL WIN
PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said yesterday surveys were just a snapshot of the present, as she responded to questions about an Express poll that put the United National Congress (UNC) behind the Opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) in the upcoming St Joseph by-election.
Persad-Bissessar was yesterday braving the blistering afternoon sun to walk through Bamboo Number One, with St Joseph by-election candidate, Ian Alleyne, when, in a brief interview with the press, she expressed confidence of winning the November 4 by-election.
The Express-commissioned poll, conducted during the period October 25 to October 26 by pollster Nigel AR Henry of Solution by Stimulation, showed Alleyne with 26 per cent of the vote and PNM candidate, Terrence Deyalsingh, in the lead with 39 per cent.
The Independent Liberal Party (ILP), led in the interim by Jack Warner, was in third place with its candidate, attorney Om Lalla, at 19 per cent. Fourteen per cent of the constituents polled were at the time “undecided”.
Persad-Bissessar, flanked by Alleyne, said yesterday, “A poll is a snapshot of a single day. A day in politics is like a year. We have many more years to come because we have some days to go before the election.”….READ MORE
Arrogance. The party ignored all the polls and was confident of a win in the THA election, Chaguanas West election, and local government election, even though the polls said PNM was leading which was true every time.
