Kamla: Rowley Abandons Stuart Young in Vote of No Confidence
In an incredible scene today at Parliament, the Government hijacked the Motion of No Confidence moved by the Leader of the Opposition, effectively shutting down the debate and denying the Opposition Leader her right to reply.
It is clear that they were running from the exposure of the Minister’s all-round failure.
Even more telling, is the fact that Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley failed to register his vote of confidence when the vote came up.
The Prime Minister’s absence for the vote speaks volumes. During the debate, Rowley said, “The Minister does not act on his own. I take responsibility for what the Ministry of National Security does and what this government does.”
However, the Prime Minister’s failure to validate this view by voting in support for his Minister clearly demonstrates that Dr. Rowley is now attempting to distance himself from Stuart Young’s failures.
Further, revelations today clearly point to massive cracks in the government with some MPs being completely against Stuart Young as well.
We regard the Prime Minister’s failure to vote for Stuart Young as validation that our motion was correct and just. If the head of Government no longer respects Stuart Young, then the public can’t be expected to place their faith in him. Minister Young must go now.
