Kamla Calls for Investigation into Sale of AG Al Rawi Car
The recent revelations surrounding the Attorney General regarding the sale of his car to a former member of the Police Service Commission Roger Kawalsingh are extremely serious.
If the allegations surrounding this matter are true it would mean the Attorney General, the legal advisor to the Government is guilty of misconduct.
In light of this, I have written (see letter attached) to the Acting Commissioner Of Police, as well as the Director of Public Prosecutions, requesting that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) investigate the failure by Mr Faris Al-Rawi to transfer Motor Vehicle Registration No. PCY 84 to Mr Roger Kawalsingh, and the failure to notify the Transport Commissioner of the change in ownership contrary to Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act Chap 48:50.
Our fellow citizens who commit this offence are made to face the full brunt of the law. However, Attorney General Al-Rawi appears to believe he is above the laws of our land.
Attorney General Al-Rawi has made a habit of flouting laws that he himself writes for everyone else to follow. As the highest legal advisor to the Government, Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi continues to bring his office into disrepute.
No one in our country is above the law. The TTPS must investigate this serious matter to the fullest extent. Attorney General Faris Al- Rawi must realize his position is now untenable, and the only way to end this farce is for him to tender his resignation immediately.
