Justice still to come
The Editor:
I continue to look forward with anxiety to read in our daily papers the progress of cases such as Calder Hart’s. As the former executive chairman of Urban Development Corporation of T&T documents were found linking him and a company the Udecott board awarded $820 million in contracts. It was initially alleged that Hart’s in-laws once sat as directors of Malaysian firm Sunway Construction Caribbean Ltd, which worked on Udecott’s $820 million Ministry of Legal Affairs Towers, which is part of the Government Campus Plaza.
Other cases include the $1.2 billion lawsuit against former president of Petrotrin, Malcolm Jones for the GTL project; $30 million lawsuit against former eTecK directors for the failed Bamboo Network Limited investment and $12 million lawsuit against former UTT chairman, Ken Julien for the Aripo Guest House (which was leased for use by Juliana Pena).
I am a citizen of T&T and consider myself a major stakeholder in this matter and would like a speedy conclusion of this.
Can the Chief Justice give us an update into these matters?
