Independent Senators in plot to cause Government not to pass laws!
Dear Editor
The behavior of the Independent bench when faced by stinging criticisms from temporary Senator Wayne Sturge has left a sour taste in my mouth and clearly, they have shown their bias against the government.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they are not independent and are therefore unfit for being Senators appointed as Independent. What they are effectively trying to do is to demonstrate independence so that no space to manoeuvre will be allowed President Carmona if he decides to move them. They are a prime example of persons attached to position and power and not persons who have the interest of the people at heart.
Senator Sturge was absolutely right when he invited them to go live in Laventille or Beverly Hills with their families in order to understand what they were voting against. Locked up in the comfort of their gated communities they are immune to the reality of what citizens face in terms of crime. These so called independents are really a sorry excuse for a balanced Senate.
Maybe Senator Subash Ramkhelawan will like to explain that he is bitter because the PP Government refused to name his President after he canvassed the Ministers and MP’s for weeks only to be told that the nominee was unacceptable. Now he is out for revenge!
And what of Senator Helen Drayton? Is she avenging the fact that she has not gotten PR Consulting work from the Government? She must come out in the open and say whether this is true or not. Nearly every one of the Independent Senators has some grievance or the other with the government of the day.
Now the question arises as to whether the President His Excellency Carmona should sit back and be a witness to what is a calculated attempt by the Independents to block the functioning of the government. If the President fails to act, he is also guilty of some of the very things he has complained about when on his ascension to office; he gave his tongue lashing speech to the Government.
Despite it all, this PP Government will prevail. Do we have to speculate why the PP Government is so hated? I will tell you why. It is because they have brought the “freeco” to an end. The fancy Presidential parties, the abuse of scholarships, poor work habits, and lack of productivity, all of these are being attacked by this government and people don’t like it.
But are these the real reasons. I will leave you to decide, and when you do, you will realise that we have not moved far from 1956.
