Indarsingh outraged at the murder of his constituent Nishad Radhay
Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh is today expressing his condolences to the family of Nishad Amrit Radhay 25, of Cameron Street, Balmain who was shot dead by thieves in a brazen home invasion and shooting early this morning.
Indarsingh expressed shock and outrage at the murder of his young and well respected constituent who worked in the Couva South Constituency Office for a year in an administrative capacity.
According to the MP, Nishad got up at 1am to begin preparations for his parents doubles/saheena business. He had told his parents to take an additional hour’s sleep while he was boiling channa when the invasion and murder took place.
Indarsingh said that he had a personal relationship with Nishad and his father who was a retrenched Caroni worker. Since Caroni closed, Nishad parents had begun to operate a doubles stand to make maintain the family.
“The murder of this young man is very disturbing and a true tragedy. Balmain is in mourning. This should never have happened to such a bright and law-abiding individual. It’s so tragic that this young man’s life was so senselessly snuffed out.
Indarsingh also said that the Rowley-led Government must be held responsible for the spiraling out-of-crime epidemic in the country. “The Prime Minister, over a year and half ago assured me in the Parliament (and it is therefore on Hansard) that joint/army police patrols have been taking place on the streets of Couva South and the community of Couva”
He said his constituents, who are afraid and traumatised are feeling that they are hostages in their own homes have been calling upon him as their MP to ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Security to provide the records of the Army and the Police patrols from the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commissioner of Police since his constituents are telling him that there is no such law enforcement patrols on their streets.
Indarsingh also spoke about launch of the Edan Business Park this evening, next to the UTT Campus in California which will be attended by Prime Minister Rowley.
He said that he will not be attending that function as well as other Government functions and events in Couva South since his number one priority is to work on behalf of his constituents for their well-being and security and to exceed expectations in the provision of service to them.
He said the Rowley-led Government is deliberately sidelining all UNC held constituencies and not channeling any type of infrastructure and development works in his constituency.
