Good work by Bharath, John at Customs

THE EDITOR: I would like to congratulate the Minister of Trade and Industry, Vasant Bharath, and the Comptroller of Customs and Excise, Fitzroy John, for their efforts to correct the bottlenecks at Customs that have led over the years to massive overtime charges, which add to the cost of the food items etc and increase the cost of living in this country.

I recall attending meetings at the TT Chamber of Industry and Commerce with fellow director James Arrindell to try to put a stop to what was happening when the problem first started many years ago.

I hope that these improved efficiencies at Customs will not only help reduce the cost of living, but will increase employment at our ports through more efficient transshipment business.
