Good move to rid CDAP abuse
THE EDITOR: It’s amazing that just about every Government social programme is being severely abused to the detriment of its beneficiaries and taxpayers. The latest casualty is the Chronic Disease Assistance Programme (CDAP).
Imagine that the Government pays close to $400 million a year for the CDAP programme with a population of over 1.3 million?
I am fed up of greedy businessmen ripping off the Government and by extension taxpayers. What is even more disenchanting is that these people put at risk social programmes that are meant to bring essential relief to the poorest and eldest in our society. Do they have no shame?
It is easy to turn a blind eye or be ignorant of the facts. As a result, I would like to express thanks to the Cabinet and our Prime Minister for appointing a steering committee to revamp the CDAP programme.
It is most definitely a step in the right direction to rid the most essential Government social programmes from the misuse and abuse that has plagued the system for years.
