Disappointed by highway

Dear Editor:

I was appalled to read on the newspapers that the Debe to Mon Desir segment of the highway to Point Fortin will be completed by May 2016. 2016? Why so far? While I do understand that the engineering is very complex and will require a lot of time to do properly, we are in an election year. Everyone is fighting against the present administration including Roget, Warner, Ramesh Maharaj and Kublalsingh.

None of these persons are taking the time to consider the consequence of their actions. Time and time again we have seen that when an administration changes, major projects come to a screeching halt. I commute from Point Fortin every day to work in Port of Spain. It takes me 3 and half hours one way. All the other additions to the highway have become a breath of fresh air.

Why do this to the people of Point Fortin? Are we not citizens of this country too? I believe that more resources should be allocated to fast track that project or else give the government a second term to complete all ongoing projects.
