Charles: Rowley lame duck administration has collapsed, time for him to go
Rowley now leads a lame duck administration. He must now do the patriotic thing, surrender gracefully, demit office, and let a new government save us from utter chaos, increasing despair, and a sense that all is lost.
Having been soundly rejected in his hometown and home island – a not insignificant part of our twin island state – why should anyone pay him any regard? That makes him a lame duck.
A lame duck administration cannot muddle its way to 2025.
Many have given up on his government, realizing that it is figuratively at the end of its tether, with no new ideas, and on life support.
According to the late Lloyd Best, this PNM has “pre-collapsed” in office. Others would say that it is a lame duck, on its last breath, drifting aimlessly, trying to score political boundaries by vooping.
No one takes his administration seriously.
The only things keeping this PNM alive in Trinidad are “eat ah fooders” holding on for dear life. In Tobago, the feeding trough has disappeared.
It is only a matter of time before the inevitable happens. Senior public servants may be reminding themselves that their prime loyalties are not to a lame duck administration bent on survival, but to our Constitution, taxpayers, the laws of our country, and our children’s future.
Blind loyalty to lame duck PNM ministers is counterproductive in the long run.
Senior public officers in lame duck administrations preferably take instructions in writing.
Like punch-drunk ex-boxing champions fighting for money, relevance and past glory, this administration is now irrelevant.
Bazoodee from incessant punches by PDP and others including the UNC, this administration is now in ICU which under Deyalsingh is not a nice place to be.
Meanwhile Ministers pretend that all is normal.
Faris continues to bring rushed Bills to parliament.
A Newsday editorial calls his current fireworks proposals: “Not so brilliant.”
Hinds calls a news conference while our borders remain porous, prisons overcrowded, his officers remain unconvinced about vaccines, and an Express editorial reminds us that our murder rate this month is twice last year’s.
The status of our children’s education remains unknown. We are losing another generation.
Everything is in chaos.
It is manifestly clear that we are in deep trouble.
Citizens are now called upon to do everything, within the law, to ensure that in these lame duck times our country is not destroyed by a clueless, pre-collapsed, angry, administration bent on a scorched earth policy which will turn our paradise into a wilderness.
