Bharath receives UN Award on behalf of TT Government
On June 26th, 2013, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment team were on hand in Manama, Bahrain for the United Nations Public Service Awards Ceremony to receive an Award, having placed first in the 4th Category – Promoting Whole-of-Government Approaches in the Information Age. The Single Electronic Window, otherwise known as TTBizLink, an initiative of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment captured first place in the Latin America and the Caribbean region in this year’s annual competition.
Senator the Honourable Vasant Bharath, Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment is currently in Bahrain and personally received the Award, accompanied by Mr. Randall Karim, Director Policy and Strategy and Mr. Andre Dickson, System Engineer, Single Electronic Window (SEW) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment.
UNPSA is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. The annual competition is managed by the Division for Public Administration and Development (DPADM) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). The award recognizes the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsible public administration in countries worldwide.
The United Nation Public Service Forum Day and Awards Ceremony, hosted during June 24 – 27, focuses on the theme of “Transformative e-Government an Innovation: Creating a Better Future for All”. High-level United Nations officials as well as Heads of State and Government, ministers, senior government officials, mayors and representatives from civil society, academia, the private sector, representatives from the Kingdom of Bahrain, and international and regional organisations are in attendance.
The Forum is of significant interest to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment as discussions on the theme -Transformative e-Government and Innovation: Creating a Better Future for All will inform the Ministry’s thrust to deliver government services through the Single Electronic Window.
As part of the Forum, a number of highly interactive events have been held, including parallel capacity-building workshops and an Expert Group Meeting, followed by plenary sessions and a Ministerial Round-Table.
