A Sobering Reality
Dear Editor,
I would like to comment on the drunken skits played out by the PNM’s family and sports day on Sunday. During the march past, women dressed in yellow dresses acted drunk and uncontrollable while holding what appeared to be bottles of alcohol. It was only after a photograph of one of the women went viral on social media, that it sparked mostly criticisms as people pointed out it was a family event with children present.
Now, I looked at this development as it unfolded and it portrayed a sobering reality. It is clear in my mind that this type of politics has no place in our twin island. I would like to commend all those citizens who spoke against these skits. Is this the type of message we should be sending to our children? In my opinion it was in poor taste and degrading to women in general. I urge those who try to gain cheap political points during this “silly season” to speak to the real issues that affect the development of Trinidad and Tobago.
