A Human Error
As human beings, we make mistakes in life. With the complexity of the “new” politics in T&T, it’s sometimes very difficult to make the right decisions. I have been one that never forgot that the PNM party ruled us for over 40 years so that their poor decision making is felt no matter who is in government for one five-year term.
In 1986, they lost 33-3 to the NAR party because people wanted change. This feeling for change happens periodically to the citizens of this country. In the past, eventually, the people forget what the PNM has done and take them back all the time.
It seems as though the population has no intention of making that mistake again. I too must confess that I am one of those that wanted this cycle to end. I was one that voted for Mr. Warner in the Chaguanas bye election. Being blinded by false propaganda, I chose him in spite of all the international allegations of corruption against him because he seemed to care for the poor.
I read the international tabloids and saw the negative comments, but I thought to myself that we as a country must make our own decisions. What hit me hard was that while allegations still face Mr. Warner, a lot of the candidates whom he has chosen to represent us had poor records. I felt so embarrassed to know that those persons almost had a chance to harness power. In another article published in a prominent local newspaper, his own deputy political leader is a subject of police investigation into stolen luxury vehicles.
I’m left so confused. I must apologies for being one that forced this on our nation by voting for the ILP. I can’t believe I made another error.
