90 Schools Repaired During Easter Vacation
The Ministry of Education (MoE) wishes to advise that over 90 Government and Government Assisted Schools were repaired as part of the Education Facilities Company Limited’s (EFCL) 2014 Easter Vacation Repair Programme.
Repairs effected range from major sewerage and electrical works, to minor works such as power-washing and sanitisation. These repairs are 98 to 100 percent complete in the majority of these schools.
Some of the schools repaired were Diego Martin and St. Phillip’s Government Primary Schools (GPS), Couva South GPS, Cunupia GPS, Tunapuna GPS, Elswick Presbyterian Primary School, Mafeking GPS, Siparia Boys’ RC Primary, Vance River RC, San Fernando Girls’ GPS and Pointe-a-Pierre Government Special School.
The Ministry will also execute major infrastructural work at the Princes Town West Secondary; the tendering process is ongoing.
With regard to the Mayaro Government Primary School, EFCL has assigned a team to effect repairs over the next few days.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Education is also aware of a situation that developed between the Spiritual Shouter Baptist (SSB) Council of Elders and the Principal of the St. Barbara’s SSB Primary School. This matter is however, currently before the Teaching Service Commission for their consideration.
