Why the reluctance, Rowley?
The Editor:
In my humble view, the Leaders’ Debate between the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition is an excellent idea. The Debate will give the nation an opportunity to hear and assess the philosophies and strategic plans of both persons and by extension, the respective political parties.
It is reported that the Prime Minister, during her speech at the UNC political forum in Maraval, emphatically stated that she was ready and available to participate in the debate on July 30. So why the reluctance on the part of the Leader of the Opposition to commit to said date?
Is Rowley intimidated and afraid to debate with the Prime Minister in front of the nation? Is it that he does not have a plan worthy of presenting to the nation? Is it that he fears he will lose his cool to engage in his trademark ranting and raving? Or is it that he is too macho to comply with a date for the debate that was accepted first by the Prime Minister?
