Why tarnish a good gesture
The Editor:
I have listened to all sorts of debate as to the Christmas greetings by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, and I have realised that a lot of the times we end up in a situation where you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I’m a Christian, and the season of Christmas brings so much joy to me. I was also inspired to see that although she is Hindu by religion, she gave grants to the Christian churches and didn’t shy away from bringing Christmas greetings to all of us. It has never been done, and I welcome this new and positive change. It helps to bring us closer when we all can say with confidence that every creed and race can find an equal place. I don’t see the reason to tarnish a good gesture.
