UNC opens East-West Corridor People Centre in Tunapuna
As it continues to prepare for upcoming elections in Trinidad and Tobago, the United National Congress on Saturday 16th March 2019 opened the first of many “UNC East-West Corridor People Centres” to provide a space for people interested in developing our nation to come together and share ideas.
Speaking at the opening, Political Leader and Leader of the Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, said, “Citizens of our beloved nation are suffering at the hands of an incompetent, uncaring Government, and the United National Congress continues to provide hope.”
“We’ve been working on the ground across Trinidad, and we are listening to your concerns, and developing our plans to move our nation forward,” the UNC Political Leader said. “Here in Tunapuna, and all along the East-West corridor, we have had a positive reception, and I am encouraged by the energy and vitality of the people who want to see our country thrive once again.”
“I reiterate my call for all people interested in working with us to build a better, brighter future for Trinidad and Tobago to step up; claim your space, join us as we work towards this goal,” Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said. “Think of this office, and all UNC offices as ‘home’. Welcome home. Together, I know we can transform our nation; together, let’s get T&T working again!” she added.
The UNC East-West Corridor People Centre will serve as a hub for several campaign activities and community building initiatives, and the Political Leader stressed that all are welcome to come in and talk to party personnel, and sign up as a volunteer. Legal and medical clinics have already been scheduled for the coming months. She noted that this UNC East-West Corridor People Centre is the first of many the party plans to open.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar thanked UNC members, activists, councillors and aldermen, Party Chairman Mr. Peter Kanhai and other members of the National Executive for their assistance in making the office a reality.
The office is located at 281 Eastern Main Road, El Dorado, Tunapuna. Please call the party’s Chairman Mr. Peter Kanhai at 678-1553 for further information.
