The UNC Stands firm on its call for an apology from Natalee Legore
The UNC’s forceful call for Natalee Legore to apologise for her baseless, inappropriate and offensive remarks has provoked a flurry of senseless, distracting statements from official organs of the People’s National Movement, which is quite revealing.
A nexus between the PNM and Legore – and perhaps her CNC3 Morning Brew Programme – appears curiously exposed.
To be clear, Dr. Rowley and his PNM organs are not defending free speech. Instead, they act as though they are fiercely protecting one of their own, who shamelessly and repeatedly forwards their nefarious political agenda. Indeed, the PNM and Dr Keith Rowley are no enablers of free expression, but of WRONGDOING.
That Dr. Rowley’s followers see nothing wrong and call on Ms. Legore not to apologise follows a pattern set by him: Dr. Rowley sees nothing wrong and has not apologised for his Minister of National Security and Attorney General recusing themselves from his Cabinet 97 times; Dr. Rowley sees nothing wrong and has not apologised for gutting the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act; Dr. Rowley sees nothing wrong and never apologised for closing down Petrotrin, placing thousands of persons on the breadline; Dr. Rowley sees nothing wrong and has not apologised for securing special exemption for his daughter (who lives in the US) and her husband (a US citizen) to fete and gallery with their foreign friends for the Christmas, while Trinidad and Tobago citizens have been heartlessly locked outside of our borders.
Their pattern is clear. They play “wrong and strong” and then throw more mud. We will not be deterred, derailed or distracted.
As it stands, the UNC was attacked unprovoked with inappropriate and inflammatory statements by the host of the CNC3 morning show. Until the UNC receives an apology, the matter remains unresolved.
Today we issue an official complaint to the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad & Tobago and to the owners and management of CNC3.
We insist on an apology, failing which the party and its hundreds of thousands of members will decide on an appropriate response.
