The UNC caucus in the TPRC supports Kamla Persad-Bissessar
The United National Congress (UNC) Councillors and Aldermen of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation are today expressing their full support for Political Leader, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, in the upcoming internal UNC election.
Alderman Kevan Gibbs and Alderman Kazim Ishmael as well as Councillors Samuel Sankar, Jlyn Roopnarine, Seema Ramsaran-Augustine and Khublal Paltoo today endorsed the decision to call the election for the post of Political Leader early, and so seek a new mandate from the membership as the party prepares for the next General Election.
“Over the past week, in particular, the country saw the leadership demonstrated by Mrs Persad-Bissessar, who braved flood waters in several areas of Trinidad, including El Socorro South, to bring hope, comfort and relief to affected residents,” noted UNC Minority Leader in the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation, Alderman Kevan Gibbs. “This is the kind of leadership that our country needs at this time, to take us forward.”
The UNC local government representatives commended and thanked Mrs Persad-Bissessar her concern for and selflessness towards the citizens of this country, at a time when the Rowley-led Government seems to have abandoned the communities ravaged by flooding.
Gibbs said, “There is no doubt that Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her team remain the best option to restore stability and growth, following the crisis of incompetence which has been created by the Keith Rowley administration.”
The Councillor for Valsyan/St Joesph Seema Ramsaran-Augustine added that “Her philosophy and that of the party which she leads has always been about people-centred development, and the country desperately needs a return to this vision if we are to survive and thrive.”
The councillors and aldermen gave their commitment to continue to work towards strengthening the United National Congress, under the leadership of Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
