I wish to commend the Prime Minister for rejecting Mr Warner’s Independent Liberal Party’s (ILP) request to join the Peoples’ Partnership coalition Government. This came after Mr Warner stated during the launch of his party that he wanted to be part of the Persad-Bissessar’s led coalition Government.
Mr Warner’s actions are quite confusing to me, since in one breath he criticizes the Prime Minister for being controlled by a “cabal”, yet in another, he wants to be part of the Government. Mr Warner boldly displayed his intentions when he went against the decision of his former UNC party to contest the Chaguanas West by-election. Now that Mr Warner is contesting the election as an independent party, he has shown that unity and consideration for the greater good are not part of his attributes.
Notwithstanding the numerous allegations of money laundering and other bribery allegations of corruption, Mr Warner is trying to paint an image of himself as the “saviour” of Chaguanas West. I wish to remind Mr Warner that it is the Persad-Bissessar’s led coalition Government that saved the country in 2010 from the ruins left by the PNM. It was a team effort! In time, the constituents of Chaguanas West will see you for who you really are. I hope that this happens before it is too late.
