Sevilla Golf Course gets equipment
Three key pieces of equipment were delivered Thursday to the staff of the Sevilla Golf Course in Couva that will help to maintain this underutilised venue. A tractor, brushcutter and trailer were leased by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago for Sevilla and the same for St. Madeline which will be used in the maintenance and upkeep of both facilities. The tractor and trailer will also be used in conjunction with other equipment owned by the respective golf clubs.
A training session in operation and maintenance was conducted at Sevilla today by Wayne Bosse of Trintrac for the staff at the Central golf course as well as officials of the Sports Company which has oversight over these sporting and recreational facilities.
According to Chris Harries, Director of Golf at the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association, the equipment will enable the staff at both courses to maintain the greens and other spaces to a standard that will facilitate improved access for youth training as well as high level competition in the near future. The TTGA provided a gang mower and green mower for both golf courses, with assistance from the regional governing body for the sport. It which will be used alongside the new equipment. Mr Harries also expects that better grounds and increased activity will lead to higher rates of membership and, in the final analysis, more people playing golf.
The sport of golf is one of the 15 sports managed by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago and it is through these efforts that the Company hopes to improve the standard and quality of playing surfaces for all sports and for the benefit of all athletes.
