Rowley must resign

rowleeIn May, 2013 we all listened in horror to a no confidence motion in parliament led by Dr Rowley, about persons in high government office conspiracy theory with evidence. Dr Rowley presented a series of damning e-mails implicating the Prime Minister, the Attorney General and Local Government Minister in “high crime”, “misbehaviour of public office” and a massive cover up.

These allegations we all took seriously since it even involved a plot to harm and discredit a reporter. At the time, Dr Rowley stated that the strength of the e-mail lay in the fact that the contents were corroborated by the developments in the country and the actions of the Government.

The country was in turmoil given the fact that there was also a section 34 issue in the air. We all now looked at the leading government officials with scorn. Those of us with doubt condemned the accused stating that if there was any truth, they should demit office but if it’s not Dr Rowley should resign.

This emailgate saga was serious enough to demand that type of action.

With the recent press conference held by the Attorney General, it was stated that google finally released information to prove that these emails were false.

Why must we as a country suffer for over a year with such a scandal? Dr Rowley should have sought to authenticate these emails before bringing a whole nation to disrepute.

To be honest, most of us believed it was the truth.

Dr Rowley had to realise that an allegation that seriously affects the international image and the reputation of the country.

With these points being said, Dr Rowley must resign as a representative of the people.
