Rowley loses credibility
Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley, during his May 2013 Motion of No Confidence against the People’s Partnership Government and the Prime Minister, disclosed the contents of 31 “e-mails” purporting to be exchanges between Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, Minister of Works Surujrattan Rambachan and other government officials.
The e-mails described a situation where these high office holders were engaged in efforts to undermine the judiciary, the DPP and the media.
During the same period, the Opposition Leader met with the Chairman of the Integrity Commission Mr. Ken Gordon supposedly to discuss these emails.
This matter was so sensationalised to the public that had the government been proven guilty by information released by Google, the next logical outcome would have been the collapse of government. The Integrity Commission’s decision to close the investigation into “emailgate” clears the Prime Minister and other government officials, both former and present. It also demonstrates that Rowley misled the Parliament in his irresponsible attempt to impugn the government.
This whole situation and the outcome makes the Opposition Leader lose all credibility.
