Rapidly starting to feel safe again
I was raised with proper values and morals, and therefore, I think it is the honourable thing to do by putting pen to paper to congratulate the Minister of National Security for implementing the Rapid Response Unit. They are literally everywhere. I now feel a better sense of security on the nation’s roads and especially on the highways because the reflection of the blue lights is always a short distance away.
On Sunday February 2, the RRU’s bold yellow and blue colours were seen on two police vehicles parked in the vicinity of Courts on the C/R Highway, El Socorro, assisting a couple who seemed to be having car trouble. It is actions such as these that is necessary and further endorses that there are still members of the police service who genuinely care about citizens.
I have spoken to several friends who share similar views and are praising the efforts of the goodly Minister. We are hoping, however, that the quality of the RRU does not deteriorate over time. We hope that they remain as vigilant and visible as they are at present. Although there are those who believe the blue flashing lights do not dissuade anyone from performing criminal activity, I beg to differ. In most societies anything that can act as a deterrent is worth trying for the safety and security of the citizens.
So hats off to Minister Gary Griffith and his newly reimplemented RRU for reassuring us that work is being done to make this country a safer place for all.
