Ramdial: PM interview Hopeless, Helpless and Visionless
Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial expressed disappointment in Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley’s edited interview to the nation last night. She called the interview “hopeless, helpless and visionless!”
PM Rowley in true hypocrite character defended Minister Camille Robinson-Regis in the First Citizen’s Bank transaction scandal by refusing to ask for her resignation amid calls from citizens to do so until her investigation ends. In the same breath he expressed disappointment in former Minister Darryl Smith and Marlene McDonald.
PM Rowley also expressed confidence in his Minister of National Security, Stuart Young in dealing with crime. This same Minister has presided over the second highest murder rate in Trinidad & Tobago’s history and poor decision-making by cabinet which was responsible for stifling necessary funding to the Commissioner of Police and other national security arms to effectively fight the criminal elements.
The decline of our economy to where it can now be described as at its worst position ever was also defended by PM Rowley by his statements of having stabilized the economy but mindful of no growth.
The disastrous debacle of the shutting down of Petrotrin resulting in 5000 job losses was just glossed over and used as a scapegoat to keep the IMF away.
MP Ramdial also noted that when asked about plans for 2020, the PM was again unable to answer and give specifics to stimulate economic growth. The PM in his interview admitted to his government failures and even hinted at an early 2020 election.
