Project Smile – Engaging all Youth Groups of T&T for a cause this Christmas
On Sunday 7th December 2014 the Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development the Honorable Clifton De Coteau MP launched Project Smile together with five Youth Organisations, which consisted of the SIMPLE Foundation, Trinidad and Tobago Youth Council, United National Congress Youth Arm, Princes Town Development Foundation and Chaguanus Youth Foundation.
The aim of Project Smile is to unite all the Youth Groups/Youth NGOs and Youth Foundations along with youth of Trinidad and Tobago to put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate this festive season by providing Christmas joy and cheer through gifts, food hampers and any other means needed to brighten the lives of others.
Many Youth Groups and NGOs have been or have the intent of assisting the less fortunate families of their respective communities , thus Project Smile allows for the engagement and unification of all youth groups not only to make this agenda a reality but to create a sense of national responsibility and compassion to the less fortunate in our society.
Yesterdays launch saw the members of the five groups along with the Honorable Minister provide gifts, toys, groceries and other items needed for the Christmas Season to a family of four who are currently residing in Chaguanus. The family was found by the SIMPLE Foundation headed by Tricia Basdeo in November and continues to be taken care by the Foundation. Together with the other Youth Groups and the Minister partnering with the SIMPLE Foundation, the family’s standard of living will be surely increased.
The Honorable Minister of Youth who has for the past year through his Ministry worked and developed a very active Volunterisim Campaign would like to invite all Youth Organisations and Youths to partner and bring joy throughout the nation.
