Praise for Moonilal the hard worker
PRAISES were showered on Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal who was described as a “hard worker” by some of his constituents whom he met with on Monday.
At that meeting, squatters in Picton, a community located near the Golconda Housing Development Corporation Estate on the outskirts of San Fernando have been assured that they will be regularised and will receive electricity and water in time for Christmas.
This community, numbering about 300 met with Moonilal who is also the Oropouche East MP as he continued his Monday Night meetings in his constituency. Picton is part of the Oropouche East constituency.
Moonilal said he decided to meet the residents as many of them have no access to electricity or potable water. He said they also needed to be regularised and they suffered from flooding as well.
He said his Monday night meetings titled, ‘They talk, I deliver’ is an attempt to bring government to the people. “People can just walk out of their homes and meet officials from TTEC, WASA, the HDC, the LSA (Land settlements Agency), the Commissioner of State lands, CEPEP, URP and the National Commission for Self Help to discuss their problems,” Moonilal said.
The Oropouche MP said TTEC has already begun surveying the area for electricity poles and the NSDP, (National Social Development Programme) of the Ministry of the People and Social Development will provide funding for the poles.
The Minister said he is also working with the HDC to erect a retaining wall to prevent flooding in the area. He said he aims to continue working tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents some of whom, at the meeting on Monday, openly praised their MP, describing him as a “hard worker.”
